Volunteer Magazine CoverSeveral members on the North Mississippi Composite Squadron were mentioned in a feature article published in the September/October issue of Volunteer Magazine. The article, written by Mississippi Wing PAO Lt. Phil Norris, detailed the successful search and rescue of a downed pilot and the roles members of the Squadron played in the successful find.

Maj. Johnny Summers and Lt. Col. Bob Smalley are quoted several times in the story and praised for flying nine sorties in the effort to locate the lost plane. In the article, Lafayette County Sheriff Buddy East is quoted as saying that the efforts of our Squadron members saved the pilot's life. The article even mentions how Col. Smalley took the time to  visit the pilot in the hospital and call him at his home in Oregan after his release.
